Here is a different one! A monitor lizard. Took these pictures during the recent visit to Kumarakom.

Kumarakom is primarily known for its variety of migratory and local birds.  I was not able to find many birds there as it was off season. But I was happy that I could get this unexpected monitor lizard. It was very shy, and hid under the bushes after sometime.

Common Indian Monitor, also known as Bengal monitor belongs to the family Varanidae. Species: Varanus bengalensis.

    Is monitor lizard and Salamander the same? These were grt pics man!!!

    No. They are different. Monitor lizards are a reptiles while Salamanders are ambhibians.
