Common Emigrant Caterpillar

These are the caterpillars of Common Emigrant Butterfly, which is a very busy flier and is a very common one in Kerala throughout the year.

In one sense it is very beautiful but in another sense, it is a bit disturbing – it eats up the leaves of plants in the farms causing it to dry up. It mainly grows on the leaves of vegetables. At first when I saw these, I didn’t know which butterfly this was, but this Common Emigrant butterflies were flying there in large numbers, so I confirmed.

Next post will also be related to this. I will soon come with some interesting shots of the butterfly.

I never care about creepy crawlies. But through your camera, they look nice… Hate the way they leave the garden, though.
