The name of this colorful spider is Indian Signature, usually seen in the backyards and front yards, and is a common one in the Indian subcontinent.
Their webs are also very ‘artistic’, with zig zag structures on the four corners, and are round in shape. They are usually large and perpendicular to the ground. But one thing, while walking we may sometimes enter these webs accidentally and it will be too irritating 🙂
Their abdomen have yellow, brown and black stripes, head is white hairy, and legs are brown with small hair-like projections. While resting these spiders keep two legs closer, making four pairs. And they usually rest at the same place (at the center of the web) for days, if there are no disturbances.
I took these pictures from my frontyard, and the web was on an evergreen bush. It was after a rain, so the web was adorned with water droplets.
Species: Argiope anasuja
