Common Lime Butterfly

Common lime is just another swallowtail butterfly like common rose and common mormon, but with a difference - common lime does not have tail.

Common Lime Butterfly

Took these pictures from the same spot within a short span of time, but couldn't get a shot with the butterfly's wings spread.

Common Lime Butterfly

This is a common butterfly species in Kerala, but it is not so frequently seen like the common mormon, at least in our area.

The butterfly is attractive with its white body with black linings, white legs, wings having black, yellow and white spots and black eyes. The hind wings also have a red spot by the end.

Family: Papilionidae
Species: Papilio demoleus

Hope you liked the pictures.
